| The Horses The horses most apt for such refined style of riding are the so-called "baroque" horses originating from the Iberian peninsula. Since the age of times, this horse - often called "the horse of a king and the king of horses" or "the pedestal of emperors" has been bred and selected for its skills in singular combat, bullfighting and for its elevated gaits. It is an outstanding example of the "artistic" horse. The Academy only uses horses of this breed, especially Lusitanos, characterised by their nobility and friendliness. All theses horses are stallions. |

| The Riders |

Most of the riders are amateurs which enhances their merit. Indeed the Belgian Academy is not really well off compared to other institutions. It does not own a centre and the horses must be transported for each training session. These costs are supported by the riders. The association does not receive any official funding and survives through the contribution of its members and the generosity of some sponsors. |
